When we talk about women in the coffee industry, usually information is hard to gather and studies from different sources sometimes contradict each other. Even evaluating the existing data, we need to consider the context; but the fact is that women’s labor on the coffee industry suffers sexual discrimination and harassment is almost undeniable. But gender equality starts with the understanding of what needs to be changed

As we have mentioned before GUATEMALAN COFFEE SOURCE is an innovative and unique Guatemalan coffee trade company, which seeks an inclusion and equality of competition and that’s why  100% of the farms we work with have women working in their farms having different duties and at least 35% of them are managed or owned by women.

Around the world, women play a very important role in the production of coffee. Many international associations work very hard to ensure their access to equal ownership and employment conditions. It is usually women who undertake a lot of the maintenance and harvesting work making a vital contribution to the farms.
